Services: During summer institute, participating teachers are paired with research scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, Immunex, or ZymoGenetics, where they complete a lab project with the assistance of the scientist mentor. Participants also learn to use basic techniques in biotechnology, as well as ways to integrate these into classroom teaching through presentations by SEP lead teachers. An equipment loan system enables them to carry out these techniques in their classroom throughout the school year.
