Description: This resource notebook provides an introduction to human genetics via an extended dramatic scenario that focuses on the unlucky Chance family, who must deal with medical, emotional, social, and ethical issues related to a variety of genetic conditions that they encounter.  Students analyze pedigrees of the genetic diseases affecting the Chance family, use Punnett squares to predict segregation ratios, and participate in class discussions revolving around bioethical decisions.  Each of the 12 chapters focuses on a different genetic disorder and includes background information, discussion questions, activities, guest speaker suggestions, sample overheads, and website resources.

Strengths: This resource contains a wealth of information and includes good questions, activities, and visuals.  There are a wide variety of interesting scenarios to choose from.
